Environmental Racism

ENVIRONMENTAL RACISM – Even when every person is affected by extreme climate events, not every individual has the ability to face and overcome them with the same ease.

Historically exploited nations, discriminated against and excluded by socio-economic structures favouring small elites (generally, of white people), have been shown to be excessively vulnerable as they are obliged to live in high-risky areas and have less financial resources. Concurrently, assistance in disaster situations and disaster recovery plans are unevenly distributed among white, rich communities in lieu of groups of Afro-descendants, natives, country people, workers, and others. Environmental racism uncovers and perpetuates the legacy of colonialism.
